November News

People have been finding MOSP and I am glad. Traffic is up over 2000 on some days while I have been over on the aditi grid learning Blender, hence my body is counted less often. Explorer numbers (as in folks hunting) are down, photographers and filmers up.  All good.

A big influx of new folks is on the way. MOSP has been accepted into the next MADPEA adventure, The Enchanted Frost Hunt. This fantasy storyline will take participants to fifteen locations during their search.
T h e  S t o r y  B e h i n d  T h e  H u n t:

A sorcerer, dark in spirit and craft, happened upon the Princess Enid in the forest one day. So besotted was he by her beauty and compassion he sought to keep her by his side always. To this end, one night while she slept, he crept into her bed chamber and plucked 15 hairs from her head. With each strand he pulled, he captured one of Enid's memories of her life before she met him. When Enid awoke, she found herself in a beautiful garden. She had no memory that this was not her home and when she saw the sorcerer, she had no memory that he had stolen her away in the night.

Every morning he comes to visit Enid and every evening he leaves, after spending the day basking in the glow of her kindness and love. Each evening when he leaves, he carefully replaces the lock on the garden gate. An enchanted lock he has fashioned from the strands of hair he plucked from Enid's head. A lock that has braided her lost memories together and makes it impossible for her to ever remember who she is or who might be missing her. As long as she never finds her lost memories, Enid will stay in the secret garden, locked away from her kingdom. Unable to free them from the frost that has settled over the land in her absence.

Once the player has completed the game (meaning that they have found everything needed)  they receive prizes.
Rez time will be turned down or off in the sim during the first high traffic weeks of the hunt. It will likely be a bit laggy and not the best for filming anyway. If you are in the middle of a project or have a deadline and need rezability, please contact me and I will do what I can to help. 20 minute rez times will return at the end of the hunt.

The photo is the hunt gift from MOSP via ChiC buildings. You can see it rezzed at MOSP not far from the welcome area landing.

In The News

Inara Pey wrote a beautiful and very complete article on MOSP in Living in a Modemworld.
I especially loved the captions!

Benicia Beck added her video to the list of those made at MOSP.  The Visitor -- a spooky seasonal tale joins Glasz DeCuir's The Sun.

Sound Stages 3 and 4, while not complete are well underway and ready for visitors.  The Shadowlands White Maze (turn your shadows on if you can) is waiting for you up at 3700 meters. Find your way to these new locations using the new MOSP HUD offered on arrival at the welcome area.

Visitations have been plentiful and ongoing with both photographers and explorers enjoying the environments. At least one person found all or most all of the 50 gifts scattered around the sim.

As we near week seven it is quieter now, a perfect time to COME FILM!

New Additions

Sound Stage 3 is coming along nicely with two PG bedrooms, a designer's office and two rooms that haven't quite decided what they will be. While all the details aren't finished there are already plenty of photo spots.  Also, a new Fall outdoor area complete with scarecrow, hay bales and produce cart await you in Peaceful Valley.

This new cabaret theater set is now in Sound Stage 4.  Click on the box outside the skybox for a TP inside ore cam in and jump on the chair. The choice is yours.

Press Release

"Quiet on the set ...   Roll cameras ..."
"ACTION!"

If you ever dreamed of being a movie mogul, the time is now. The Machinima Open Studio Project at LEA20 offers a wide variety of locales and sets built with filming in mind.  Nine builds dot the countryside with more to come. Peaceful Valley sits in the shadow of tall mountains, should you keep the region Windlight setting, while the cottages and outdoor locations along Beach Walk are definitely a sun lover's paradise.  LEA20 isn't too different from your favorite picturesque sim, except of course it is filming friendly.

There is that open spaces advantage in effect also. Houses have been situated to encompass vista; more shots are available and you may never even need to use that derez option. Ground level is fun to explore even as you may wonder how railroad tracks appear and disappear, seemingly going nowhere -- how a bunkhouse turns into a schoolroom when you enter. No, it isn't the twilight zone; it is simply the set designer taking advantage of spaces.

The welcome area is your starting point. Boards with photos let you choose your venue or opt for a HUD with the full list of locations right at your fingertips. Phase One of the project includes a duo of sound stages. I hear that food services just dropped by on Stage One, so heading over there is most likely your best bet. And what do you know? It really IS a sound stage. Well, perhaps a bit neater than the norm and with fewer cords and less electrician's tape; but still the ambiance is evident. Chose a set and of course take some pictures!

MOSP, while designed for machinimatographers is also a friend of static film. In fact there is a Flickr group (http://www.flickr.com/groups/atthemosp/) where you can add your shots and maybe garner a bit of fame with the photo of the week. Beginners in either field are welcome!  And I understand that if you IM Chic Aeon with questions, she is happy to share her expertise.

Another impressive area is the High Corporate Offices which are open for meetings and classes -- and of course filming. Just ask for a group invite if you need to put an ad in the Events listings. There is also a movie camera, an anchor desk and a widescreen backdrop that let's you click for different stills to help tell your story.

MOSP has been open during the building process, but the extra fun start on October 1 at noon. Come on over and explore. Details, as any good director knows, make the shot. So keep your eyes peeled as you wander around the sets. There are fifty (yes FIFTY) gifts to be had. It isn't a hunt in the traditional sense. Everything is out in the open. Pick up a notecard at the landing point, spend a little time looking for those details and head home with more than just photos!

The Official MOSP One Minute Teaser

This face-paced film was enjoyable to shoot and even more fun to edit. I have been so busy with the sim that filming has been pushed aside. Good to be at it again. Available in 1080HD by changing the default settings.

Working Hard

I have been working about ten hours a day at MOSP. Add in the blogging and conversations on pre-production machinima, I have been a busy gal. Two major builds to complete and I am ready for the grand opening October 1. That is also the beginning of the MOSP Explorer Hunt, so add making gifts to that list of accomplishments.

There are green dots scattering the map and that makes me happy. I thought I would put together a little getaway place down by the water. Terrifically cute with artist's bench and a colorful computer desk (with exhausted pose which I slip into when AFK), it only took a couple of hours for someone to discover me. Well I SHOULD have known that *wink*. So I will still visit but probably won't do a bunch of outfit changing there :D.

There has been some press on MOSP. Virtual Outworlding did a comprehensive post and I do appreciate the time and effort expended. I know it takes both.  I was also invited to do a TV interview on the hunt, but there was a time conflict. Very nice to have been asked.

Tired but happy I am catching up on the blog and Flickr and announcements and such. I still have half my prims in the coffers. But with five and a half months left, I am betting all but the rezzing reserves will be used. I just have to make sure and not run out of sky!

11,000 Prims to Go

Sound Stage One is complete. I am sure I will find additions; items that come my way in the future, goodies I discover in my inventory (and boy have there been some great unearthings there). A good part of Peaceful Valley and Beach Walk -- names I have given areas on the ground -- are complete or making their way there. Plenty more to do of course. I am hankering to work on an Oriental area next.

In case it isn't clear. I am having a SUPERB time!

Onward - Sound Stage One

Yesterday was move in day. It took a little trickery and some help from my friends to get the region changed to "M". I mean really lots of machinima would never make it in a "G" rated world. Even the outfits I sometimes wear (not often; I am usually in jeans of some sort) wouldn't past muster.

Last night I couldn't help myself and installed a few environments down at ground level. Right now it is pretty pastoral with sheep and garden sheds and the like, but there will be more modern builds appearing in the future. I am thinking of the north half of the sim as Peaceful Valley (insert smile here). Most of us could use a little peacefulness in our lives.

So this morning (4 am to be exact) I needed a change and started on Sound Stage One. Originally I had envisioned a group of vignettes for filming, different rooms that could be melded into a various storylines. This morning after bath time (sometimes my most productive idea hour) I decided that the sound stages should really look like sound stages. So with that in mind I went to work.

If we had unlimited prims  (in our wildest dreams) we could do so much. So far all is well and I have some plans for a large minimalist area so that will balance out the detailed sets. I finished an office today and of course setting up the sound stages.

The High Rise Corp is complete and you can find it here.  I will be adding a box with a free poseball  for the camera person. It's on my list. The list is long. Much to do.

And there is plenty to see at ground level. Just don't think it is complete. This IS day two after all.

Planning Ahead

While the Artists in Residence won't be getting their sims for a few days, there is still plenty of prep work that can be done. Those of you that know me well won't be surprised that I have already:

Made a group
Made a logo (see it in the background and in the sidebar)
Made a welcome area / office / meeting room (that's the undecorated interior in the photo above)
Made a plan for the division of the land and the placement of the studios (subject to revision as I go along of course)

So after a couple of long but fun days I pulled out an AFK chair and table and plopped myself down for a photo.

This is going to be fun!
